27 April 2012
The medication from Vivus pharmaceutical is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the name of Stendra. Vivus is currently awaiting a partner company that would help it market and eventually sell the drug.
26 April 2013
The Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) within the European Medicines Agency's (EMA) reccommended to grant the marketing authorisation for the medication and passed it to the European Commission for approval.
21 June 2013
The medication was granted marketing authorisation from the European Commission. The authorisation is now valid throughout the European Union.
9 July 2013
Vivus signed deal with Menarini, an Italian company that would help to market the medication in 40 countries in Europe and also in Australia and New Zealand. The medication is expected to be available by the beginning of next year.
